Great and compassionate God, have mercy on us.

Again, we wake up to a story that feels like déjà vu: The loss of innocent lives, the chaos, the tragedy, the senselessness of yet another violent act—this time in the city of Las Vegas.

For those people, we pray.

We pray for families that lost loved ones.

We pray for people that will have to cope with the trauma for the rest of their lives.

We pray for the injured and the traumatized.

We pray for the city of Las Vegas and the scar that they will now bear.

We continually hope and pray that the world will one day see an end to all these senseless acts.

But, for now, we hurt. We hurt for the world, we hurt for the cities, and we hurt for Your children.

Have mercy on all of us, and help us heal the best we can.

Amen.
