As part of our community program night series, on Monday, Sept. 30, 6 p.m., in the sanctuary, we will present an informational program addressing issues related to the Affordable Care Act for both individuals and businesses. Regardless of what coverage you have now, chances are you will see changes when requirements of the Act take effect.

Did you know:

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) takes effect Jan. 1, 2014

questions-cropped-3What does this mean to you?

  1. You are required to own qualifying health insurance or pay a penalty in 2014.
  2. All individual plans will be guaranteed issue without any pre-existing condition exclusions.
  3. Health insurance exchanges will offer health insurance premium subsidies to qualified applicants (significant savings on premiums).
  4. Enrollments begin October 1, 2013.
  5. The last day to obtain health insurance coverage for 2014 and avoid penalties is March 31, 2014.

Just a sample of what you’ll find out at this program:

  • What plans and options will be available.
  • What is covered under the plans?
  • Who qualifies for a subsidy? (You may be surprised – subsidies are available to more than what you might consider low-income families!)
  • Should you keep your current plan or switch?
  • What should you do if your employer changes or drops your coverage?
  • And more!

Our speaker will be Craig S. Rodrigue, an independent insurance advisor who has been monitoring changing healthcare environment and has carefully researched the impact of new regulations on individuals and businesses.
