Deacons

An important function of any congregation is members caring for members. In addition to the informal process of individuals reaching out to others who may be in need, our Deacons regularly minister to members of the congregation in a variety of ways.

The Deacons at Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church & School are, first of all, called by God to their office. They are elected, ordained and charged to make sure that those who are vulnerable to falling through the cracks don’t. Deacons are responsible for ministering to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faithEach Deacon is responsible for a group of families in the congregation and is available to respond to them with assistance, both material and spiritual. Deacons are called from all corners of the congregation and are different from each other, but they are all equipped with the necessary basic equipment: an ear to hear; a shoulder on which to lean; and a heart to care.

“I tell you the truth,
whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.”
Matthew 25:40

“In all my prayers for all of you,
I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel
from the first day until now,
being confident of this,
that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:4-6
