By Nicole Mills and Pastor Chris
I never thought I’d have to turn away someone who asked for water, especially a child, but today we did. Our resources were too scarce and the need far too great for us to respond.
For lunch each day we retreat to our bus so as to not eat in the open air where the refugees can view us. This evening we were told that 5,000,000 Haitian children will go without a meal. What do you do with that?? The ray of hope for which we look forward is the great food distribution coming on Friday, when we will be passing out food to the local families. TPC will fund the distribution of food to 100 families, each pack we give away will last the family 3 weeks. We will share more about this part of our work later in the week.
In the meantime we rejoice in the fact that the walls are up on the house we are building and that 150 children/adults attended the VBS program in the afternoon today.
Tomorrow we’ll raise the roof! By the end of this week your TPC missionaries will have built a permanent dwelling for a refugee family…
We’re thankful for all God has provided – people, new friends, food, materials, and the island breeze. Prayers for health, stamina, faith.
Luke 18:16-17 – “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
John 12:26 – “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also.”
Please continue to pray for Haiti and those on the mission team; Steve Brockman, Pastor Chris, Karyl Melick,Nicole Mills,Chanhee Park and Sonja Taylor.
